Every year the third graders of North Attlebourgh's public schools visit the library. The Children's Librarian will show the students around the building, our collection, and have a story time for them. The children also have the chance to select a book to borrow. We are very pleased with the opportunity to introduce the third graders to the library in this fashion.
It is a library policy adopted by the Board of Library Trustees that every library patron must have his or her OWN library card and that library card must be present to check out materials. No exceptions are made to this policy. No library cards will be issued to students during the tour.
- If your child has a card already, s/he will be able to borrow books during the visit by bringing the card.
- If your child does not have a card or if it is lost, please come in with him or her to sign up for a card.
The card is free and takes only a few minutes to enter into the system. As the responsible adult, you will need to present picture identification with current address. Only a parent or legal guardian can sign up a child.
If your child's card hasn't been used in the past 2 years, there is a good chance it is no longer valid. Please call or come in to check.
If there are fines over $9.99 or more than 7 overdues, the card is blocked and the problems must be resolved before more materials can be checked out. Please call or come in if you think this may be the case.
Making sure your child has an active card will avoid any disappointment for your child on the day of the tour.
The Library Card can be used at all of the libraries in the SAILS system and is your access to magazine and testing databases through our website. If you have any questions please call the library 508-699-0122 to talk to the director, Debbie Clifton.
